Copper-clad aluminum (CCA) is also manufactured and used for signal transmission in radio frequency telecommunication applications, such as CATV cables and cellular towers and antennas. In 2018, recognizing the impending world shortage of copper supplies, Copperweld brought copper-clad aluminum small circuit wire back to the U.S. residential home building market, with the East Park Manufacturing Campus focused on production of NM-B (Non-Metallic Sheathed Cable) and type MC (Metal Clad Cable) building wire.
Copperweld maintains three state-of-the-art research and testing laboratories to include a Building Wire Compliance Lab where Copperweld samples building wire product and tests the wire according to UL requirements, UL listings, and Intertek listings, a Metallurgical Materials Product Lab with unparalleled in the industry capabilities to ensure there is a diffusion of molecules for a true bi-metallic bond, and a newly expanded Product Reliability & Performance Lab dedicated to electrical connection research.
